Welcome! I’m Jude Thomas, the creator of this blog. I am an intellectual property attorney with a particular interest in the evolution of the law in response to the explosive growth of technology that has accompanied the information age. I created Cyberlexical as a home for ideas about all things law and technology, with some personal tidbits thrown in to keep it human.
I practiced intellectual property law with large firms in New York City for several years before returning to my midwestern roots to complete a master’s degree (LL.M.) in intellectual property law and to spend more time writing, which is one of my greatest joys. I have also practiced dentistry and oral & maxillofacial surgery, which, among other things, eventually lead to my interest in patent law. Along the way, I enjoyed opportunities to teach law students and dental students and I embraced my passion for writing and sharing my ideas with others. I have a deep-seated curiosity about a wide range of subjects and a genuine love of learning.
I live in Ohio with my wife Kelleigh, who is an actress, model, film producer, writer, belly dancer, fire eater, and aerialist. We have three maine coon cats named Eddie, Eddie, and Yeti who apparently consider themselves the owners of our house, but they graciously share it with us. You can read the unlikely story of how I met and eventually married my wife here: A Cyberspace Love Story.
